Brussels (Belgium), 11th-12th March 2010: Management of IPR and Contract Management
Good management of intellectual property rights and the knowledgeable management of contracts are two fundamental aspects of managing projects successfully. These processes are crucial for research managers and administrators concerned with contracts and project management in research institutions, universities, the public sector and corporate organisations.
This two-day workshop focuses on best practices in each of these areas: what is essential, what is advisable, and what are the pitfalls to be avoided. Participants will learn how to deal most effectively with the material they work with: to protect the intellectual property rights in it, to commercially exploit it and to add value, as well as how to handle third party material legitimately. They will understand how to construct, review, negotiate and manage contracts which will deliver appropriate results within today’s dynamic business environment.
The focus is practical, through lecturing and participation in discussions, examples and case studies. Commercial strategies are emphasised. An EU perspective will be taken.
