European Union. The Commission recently published the draft version of the Guide to IP rules for FP7 projects
The Commission recently published the draft version of the Guide to IP rules for projects funded by the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The guide is meant for participants in FP7 projects and provides guidance on various IPR issues that may emerge when preparing and participating in an FP7 project. It was drafted using the new provisions (e.g. the "Frontier research action" funded by the European Research Council) and terminology laid down in the "Rules for participation" and in the "EC Model Grant Agreement" (and related Annexes).
The guide also includes a specific section on the eligibility of IPR costs for funding. In particular, the guide clarifies that in FP7, unlike in FP6, the costs for protecting and disseminating research results are included in the "other activities" item, thus the Community contribution may reach up to 100% of the total cost incurred.
