European Union. The ERC has announced the results of the first call for proposal for Starting Independent Investigators

The European Research Council (ERC), the mission of which is to promote investigator-driven research in Europe, recently announced the results of the first call for proposal aiming at awarding the so-called Starting Independent Investigators. After a two-stage selection procedure, ERC aims to fund the first 300 prioritised quality proposals, representing investigators of 32 nationalities and from around 170 host institutions in the Member States and FP7 associated countries.

The ERC Starting Grants provide support for young researchers who have completed their doctoral studies and wish to establish their first research team or perform their own independent research.
