European Union. INNO-Nets and stakeholders propose clear objectives and sound indicators as important measures in evaluating performance of European innovation initiatives

Stakeholders of INNO-Nets met on 19th January to discuss the best means to measure performance and impacts resulting from European innovation cooperation initiatives.

The group, consisting of coordinators, reflection group members, external experts and Commission representatives understands that to effectively measure the impact of a project, the objectives of that project need to be clearly established from the beginning. They also suggest the need to use a limited number of key indicators and the need to avoid a heavy burden to project management. The group further agreed to establish an ongoing process of identification of indicators and a monitoring system to finalise it by summer 2010. All the presentations and materials delivered at the conference are available online.

INNO-Nets, under the PRO INNO Europe initiative, aims to encourage regional and national innovation policy makers and public support providers to work more closely together in well-defined priority areas such as clusters, services, eco-innovation and support services provisions. INNO-Nets is currently in its second cycle.
