Through an official press release, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Dr. Kamil Idris, has welcomed the accession by the United States of America to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks (the Madrid Protocol).
Dr. Idris highlighted the advantages and positive effects that this accession will bring. The Madrid Protocol will enter into force in respect to the U.S. on November 2, 2003.
This United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has proposed Rules of Practice for Trademark Related Filings under the Madrid Protocol Implementation Act, which can be consult on its Web-site.
