United Kingdom. The UK Patent Office gets ready to receive patent applications by electronic means

The UK Patent Office published (07.01.04) in his Patent Notices web page directions on how to make patent applications by electronic means (on-line or by CD-Rom).

These directions are given under the new section 124A of the Patents Act 1977, introduced therefore by the Patents Act (Electronic Communications) Order 2003, and form part of a general effort made by the UK Government to electronically deliver some major services by 2005.

Please note that said directions cover only national patent applications and international applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty entering in the UK national phase, although the system shall also process international and European patent applications when it comes into operation.
