European Union. Opinion of the AG on the assessment of the distinctiveness of common surnames
 
On 15 January 2004, the Advocate General (AG) Ruiz-Jarabo Colomer has delivered his opinion in the "Nichols" case before the European Court of Justice (ECJ). This case is concerned with the issue of the distinctive character that must have common surnames.
